Toe blisters

Toe blisters result from a combination of pressure, toe-to-toe friction, moisture and insufficient room in the shoe.

Common causes

  • A narrow toe box.
  • Toes rubbing against each other or the shoe.
  • Nails, seams or moisture increasing local pressure.

Practical approach

Address the cause first. A plaster can protect, but poorly fitting footwear will continue to create friction. Choose an anatomical plaster shape that covers the complete tender zone and lies flat.

When should you seek medical advice?
Get a blister or wound assessed if there are clear signs of infection, increasing redness or heat, pus, fever, severe pain, poor circulation, or if you have diabetes, neuropathy or an increased wound-healing risk. Always follow the current product packaging and manufacturer instructions.
