How to apply BenPed blister plasters
Even a good plaster can perform poorly if the skin is not prepared properly. Application matters as much as the product.
Step by step
- Assess the area. Is this a straightforward friction blister or are there warning signs?
- Clean the skin. Remove dirt and sweat carefully.
- Dry completely. Adhesion is usually better on dry skin without cream or oil.
- Choose the right size. Cover the tender area generously without unnecessary folds.
- Apply without stretch. Smooth the edges down carefully.
- Monitor during use. Replace according to the package instructions and sooner if it lifts, becomes contaminated or the skin reacts poorly.
Should you pop a blister?
An intact blister roof protects the skin underneath. Routine self-puncturing is therefore not necessary and may increase contamination risk. Large, very painful or complicated blisters are better assessed professionally.
When should you seek medical advice?
Get a blister or wound assessed if there are clear signs of infection, increasing redness or heat, pus, fever, severe pain, poor circulation, or if you have diabetes, neuropathy or an increased wound-healing risk. Always follow the current product packaging and manufacturer instructions.
